Thermal
transfer printers use roll-form labels and printing ribbons. (This
is different from printers that use the direct thermal technology and
special thermally-sensitive label media that melts developing agents to
print an image.)
Thermal transfer printing
requires less heat to transfer print to a label so you have the widest
selection of paper and film labels with an extensive choice of adhesives
to fit special label applications. Because of this variety in
label constructions, thermal transfer printing ribbons come in three
basic formulas - wax, was/resin or full resin - each engineered to work
on specific label materials. The opportunity to form great bond
with a label and thus excellent durability means that protective film
laminates may not necessarily be needed.
Choosing the right ribbon for each
substrate can be confusing, but Electronic Imaging Materials is here to
help make your buying decisions easy. Unlike many suppliers,
EIM offers a wide selection of printing ribbons that we have thoroughly
tested for compatibility with our label products. We don't handle
simply one "brand", but a thorough cross-section of high-quality ribbons
for most printer models. Furthermore, we not only offer black
thermal transfer ribbons, but also spot and process colors
that are popular for printing graphics and color-coding.
