How do I track products throughout my company?

Can I print bar code labels in my facility?

Yes. We usually work with thermal and thermal transfer printers. Which printer you use or how you use it will depend on your label needs. Small labels, large labels, labels for hot or cold, etc. The system that runs the printer can interface with any current system or be stand-alone. "Off the shelf" label software is available to run different types of printers. Unfortunately, the flexibility, features and speed of any one printer will not be taken advantage of with most of this kind of software. Typically, the user will have to address many more screens than needed and will not be given any automation. We have introduced eiminc TASK™ software. It reduces daily operation to a single screen for most users. We can offer some suggestions as to how you can print bar code labels economically and efficiently to whatever printer you choose.

How can I be sure that I don't reuse a number when printing?

EIMINC has developed a database system for printing. This system is accessed very quickly while printing and alerts the user if the number requested has ever been printed before. Our eiminc TASK™ software does this. The user can override the system if desired. We have a library case study that describes this feature. This method helps maintain the integrity of your databases.

Can I send paragraphs of information in 1 bar code?

Yes. Bar codes are like fonts. There are many and they all look different. Over the last few years, two dimensional bar codes have been developed that can carry a lot of information. We currently use this technology in systems for our clients. One such system is the subject of our healthcare case study. This technique allows significant data to travel with an item or items and be scanned upon reaching another location. How do I interface to a older computer system?

Generally speaking, there are a number of ways to interface new systems with old systems. One method is "behind the scenes", addressing the data that supports the old system. This method is fast. Here is the problem. The data from the sending system may not fit well into the receiving system. The editing of the data might require some minimal user interface. We have incorporated methods to analyze the data and request editing from the user only where needed. This both automates the transfer and maintains integrity. Can I interface my existing order and production system with an "off-the-shelf" accounting package?

Yes. Many accounting packages allow for importing, but the structure is too rigid for most companies. We have addressed this problem by automating the accounting software. Basically we fill out the invoice. Address, Items and Total. We can build in the logic and exceptions that you currently use when you invoice.
